marsh weeds

After backing out of the mud a ways, I saw this area of marsh weeds. It was 50 meters across but the open watre looked accessable. I dragged the kayak across this matted mess of mangled marsh grass and got to the open water in 20 minutes. I tried to keep my feet on top of the mess by stepping on the thickest parts of the dead grasses, but at times I sunk to my knees in the soupy muck below the surface. I was sooooo happy to be back on open water...I almost cried once I got the VJ going again. The tears of happiness did not last long once the winds kicked in and made for difficult paddling. Cedar Lake never rests.
